February 16, 2019 – Steven Schon, QuantaCool’s Chief Technology Officer, will be giving a presentation at the Semi-Therm 35 conference on a new approach to recover and recycle waste heat from data centers, upgrading it for useful purposes.
The presentation is titled “Heat Pumps to Upgrade Data Center Waste Heat: Integration with 2-Phase Cooling”. It describes an integrated 2-phase cooling with vapor recompression (2PCVR) cycle, which can be used to recycle waste heat from data centers to provide heating or chilling (via absorption refrigeration) to nearby facilities. Process models show that 2PCVR is significantly more energy-efficient, cost-effective, and easier to operate than warm-water or air cooling coupled with conventional heat pumps.
SEMI-THERM (International Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers’ (IEEE) Semiconductor Thermal Management and Measurement Symposium), is the premier annual conference on thermal engineering for electronics. The 2019 conference will be held at the March 18 – 22 at the DoubleTree Hotel in San Jose, California. For more information, see http://semi-therm.org/ .
