June 20, 2020 –  Dr. Alfonso Ortega, QuantaCool’s Science and Engineering Advisor, and James R. Birle Professor of Energy Technology at Villanova University, will be giving a presentation at the Semi-Therm Two-Phase Flow Cooling Online Summit on the experimental methods to characterize teh thermal performance of cold plates.

The presentation is titled “Experimental Characterization of Refrigerant Based Two-Phase Cold Plates to 1000 W: Thermal Metrology and Metrics”.  It describes experimental measurement methodologies for measuring cold plate thermal resistance, and provides data on the measured performance of a QuantaCool patented 2-phase cold plate design. The cold plate provided the lowest thermal resistance and highest power handling capability of any cold plate tested by the Villanova research group.

SEMI-THERM (International Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers’ (IEEE) Semiconductor Thermal Management and Measurement Symposium), is the premier international forum dedicated to the thermal management and characterization of electronic components and systems.  The 2020 Two-Phase Flow Cooling Online Summit will be held on-line on June 30.
